FAQs
Getting Started & Features
Q1: What is Ride iQ?
A1: Ride iQ is Troxus’ smart technology platform that connects your e-bike to your smartphone. It enhances your ride with features like real-time tracking, remote controls, adaptive performance settings, and over-the-air updates, so your bike actually improves over time.
Q2: What makes Ride iQ different from other e-bike systems?
A2: Most e-bikes offer basic assist and display functions. Ride iQ goes further by combining connectivity, intelligent performance tuning, and advanced security into one integrated system—making your bike smarter every time you ride.
Q3: How does Ride iQ improve the riding experience?
A3: Ride iQ offers Adaptive Ride Intelligence, which lets you customize pedal assist (PAS), torque, and power delivery. This creates a smoother, more natural ride tailored to your preferences.
Q4: Can Ride iQ help me manage battery life?
A4: Definitely. The app provides:
- Real-time battery level
- Accurate range estimates
- Charging time predictions
This helps you plan rides confidently and avoid range anxiety.
Q5: Will my bike receive updates?
A5: Yes. Ride iQ supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, meaning your bike’s software can improve over time with new features, performance enhancements, and security updates, without needing a shop visit.
Q6: I already own a Troxus e-bike. Can I add Ride iQ to my current bike?
A6: Ride iQ is currently available only on select compatible Troxus models that were specifically designed to support the system’s advanced hardware and software integration. At this time, Ride iQ cannot be retrofitted onto existing non-compatible models.
The good news is that all Troxus e-bikes are still built to deliver the reliable performance, comfort, and ride quality riders expect. As the Ride iQ lineup continues to grow, additional compatible models will become available in the future. We recommend checking with your local dealer or visiting the Troxus website for the latest Ride iQ updates and compatible models.
Subscription & Account
Q1: How much does Ride iQ cost?
A1: Starting at the original date and time of purchase, every bike equipped with Ride iQ comes with one free year of access to Ride iQ features. To continue using Ride iQ after your trial expires, you will need a paid, yearly subscription. The cost will be $20 for another 365 days of access.
Q2: What features will I lose if I do not renew after my free one-year trial?
A2: ALL FEATURES can be enabled and/or utilized by a BT connection, but there will be no long-distance communication possible. A direct BT connection is necessary to disable security features like the ARM or DISABLE buttons. After the free trial, no long-distance control will be available without a continued subscription.
Q3: What if my Ride iQ validity date shows less than one year until expiration when I purchased the bike? I was told that I get a one-year free trial of Ride iQ.
A3: Contact Troxus with your proof of purchase, bike serial number, and SIM card number from the E-bike Details page. We will be able to adjust the expiration date accordingly.
Q4: I let my Ride iQ expire 6 months ago, and now I am unable to renew. What do I do?
A4: If left inactive for 6 months after expiration, the SIM card itself will expire permanently and need replacing. Contact your local Troxus dealer about getting a new SIM card for the Ride iQ box. The shop will be able to swap the SIM card for you and get the Ride iQ back up and running.
Q5: How many bikes can I connect to my Ride iQ account?
A5: You can connect up to ten bikes into one account.
Q6: Can my friends and family members connect to my bike?
A6: At this time, for security purposes, only one account can successfully bind to a bike. You can share your login with anyone, but please note that the account can only be viewed on one device at a time. The previous device will be logged out automatically. (When using multiple devices, be sure to initiate the Bluetooth pairing through the “Proximity Unlock” feature in the Settings Menu on each device.)
Security & Remote Functions
Q1: Can I track my bike if it’s lost or stolen?
A1: Absolutely. Ride iQ includes built-in GPS tracking and real-time movement alerts. You can see your bike’s location at any time and receive notifications if it moves unexpectedly.
Q2: What security features does Ride iQ offer?
A2: Ride iQ includes a full smart security suite:
- GPS tracking
- Geofence alerts
- Remote disable and power-on
- Proximity unlock
- Password protection
- Battery anti-tamper alerts
- Audible locator
These features work together to actively protect your bike—not just lock it.
Q3: What is Proximity Unlock?
A3: Proximity unlock allows your bike to automatically unlock as you approach with your phone. It learns your preferred distance over time, making access seamless and secure.
Q4: Can I control my bike remotely?
A4: Yes. With Ride iQ, you can remotely:
- Lock or disable your bike
- Power it on
- Access security settings
This gives you control and peace of mind, even when you're not nearby.
Q5: Will my Ride iQ “black box” continue to broadcast if the battery is removed from the bike?
A5: Yes. The box has it’s own battery that will allow a GPS signal to be broadcast for around 60 hours, aiding in the recovery of your bike.
Technology & Connectivity
Q1: Is my data safe when using Ride iQ?
A1: Currently, the primary AWS servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany. Germany has the strictest data compliance regulations in Europe. Your data is very safe.
Q2: What network does Ride iQ utilize?
A2: All of them. Think of the Ride iQ box as a small phone for your bike. It can utilize any 4G network available across the majority of the planet.
Q3: Why does my bike location say that it is in a foreign country?
A3: Every bike has the Ride iQ system tested at the factory. The location is established when the geofence is tested. The first time you use the geofence feature, the app will work to relocate the bike and update the physical location. Give the bike some time to work on this process as it depends on the strength and clarity of the 4G signal available.
Q4: Why is there a rubber plug in my frame?
A4: The Ride iQ box needs to be able to send and receive information. The rubber plug provides a path for the signal to travel. Otherwise, the signal would be trapped inside the Aluminum frame.
Q5: Does Ride iQ require a constant internet connection?
A5: Ride iQ uses both Bluetooth and 4G connectivity. Basic features work locally via Bluetooth, while advanced features like GPS tracking and remote access use cellular connectivity.
